Catching up with the artist in his LA studio

Noelle Wolf invites you in to the foundations of what we see, like, feel and do.

For the Bold Collection Noelle partnered with the artist WRDSMTH – famed for his work of indelible phrases and thoughts – on a special set of 5 of his affirmation like artworks sewn in to the briefs and thongs.

We caught up with him in his studio in LA, read the interview below.

Your work is all about indelible phrases and thoughts, which words do you live by? Do you have a favorite quote or motto?

‘Aspire to inspire others and the universe will take note’ has become a mantra for everything that WRDSMTH encompasses. I wrote this back in 2014 and it was immediately embraced by so many.

What would you most love to do if you weren't an artist?

If I wasn’t an artist, I’d be a professional baseball player.

Aside from your mother, which woman inspires you most?

All the muses I’ve been lucky enough to have in my life. One in particular, who even amidst heartbreak, continues to muse me.

My favourite piece/WRD is "I really really really like you just the way you are."

Who would play you in the film of your life so far?

Adam Brody

Where do you find inspiration?

Everywhere and in everything. I love walking around cities and being inspired by what I see and feel.

Which pieces from the Noelle Wolf collection do you most respond to? Your favourites?

I loved working on this project with Noelle and my favourite piece/WRD is “I really really really like you just the way you are.”

What is your greatest extravagance?

Food. I’m a foodie who loves to eat drink merry at restaurants with friends and loved ones.

What has been your greatest adventure so far?

Reinventing myself, which I’ve done a lot in my life. I like ignoring all fear and diving into pools of unknown.

What is your most treasured possession?

Right now, my puppy Vincent– who isn’t a possession, but he is all mine.

What is the last thing you read or saw that has stayed with you?

“You will never be criticized by someone who is doing more than you. You will only be criticized by someone doing less.”

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

I’ll say either John Lennon or Shepard Fairey.
